Session Summary
Act 1: The Barb - Night of the Eye
Started at Brushbook Tavern during the Triple Eclipse. A bard played lute while we received chalky grey talismans marking us for the meeting at The Barb.
Traveled to The Barb, a giant spire on the mountain range - ancient ruins predating The Cataclysm. It’s known as a meeting place for the Mages of High Sorcery. We arrived on the Night of the Eye, when Krynn’s three moons align and magic flares.
Inside, scary torches lit our way to a room with tapestries depicting the three moons. A lady stood in the middle conversing with another participant. Portal doors opened to another rotunda with elaborate runes carved around a single pedestal holding an ornate key.
The Test: I traced the important runes - they formed a knock spell. Made a scroll of it. We passed the test and were given a scroll with instructions to find Wyhan, a black robed mage in Kalaman. Thalia’s eyes glowed during this.
Act 2: Arrival at Vogler
Traveled to Vogler, a fishing town with an incomplete stone bridge dating to before The Cataclysm. The river has dozens of small boats on murky water.
Met the Party at the Docks:
- Calendur - guy with broken wrist watch, hastily put together mismatched suit
- Zagreus - guy in full armor and fur cape, Dark Souls style, from southern Ergoth
- Vaubin - bigger guy with fur armor and spiked pauldrons, barbarian
- Haive - Minotaur! Not groomed, dreads with loud leaves and twigs
Explored the town - population of Humans, Kenders, and Hill Dwarves. There’s a soldier encampment to the north. Zagreus mentioned Becklin like an uncle figure for him.
Town Landmarks:
- Brasscrab - big circle building next to port
- Mayor’s Building - city circle building to the north
- The Fishbowl - to the right of mayor’s building (great fish pie)
- Fisher’s Market - straight down the middle
- U-shaped house - very rich country house
We went to Fisher’s Market. Most fishermen were out getting boats ready, boat inspectors around. There’s a sign for good luck at docks with a king fisher bird. Saw an older Kender smoking.
Traded a cigarette with the fish puppet lady. Haive traded a tiger tooth for a fish puppet marionette. Guy with mask (didn’t eat fish, gave to friend - too badass for food).
Act 3: Ispin’s Funeral
Attended the funeral of Ispin Greenshield - everyone important was there.
Attendees:
- Becklin - person in full plate armor, Knight of Solamnia, she knows Haive! She was glad to meet him - Ispin spoke of him
- Kudgel - big strong smaller dwarf
- Ledara - blue skinned Silvanesti elf, does circus stuff, talked to Zagreus
- Two posh really rich people: balding older man in a tuffed shirt with sword, and Baccahrus the Young - younger man with blonde hair and red dressing, sword on his belt
- Yow Ming - the barkeep who does all the cheese and shit
Ispin Greenshield wanted people to share his legend and stories. Turns out everyone knows Haive - he must be really important.
The funeral celebrated Ispin’s role in the Battle of High Hill, where the Knights of Solamnia defended Vogler from the fanatic Isthar Empire.
After Funeral:
- Met Derret - Becklin’s student
- Learned Haive is from Mighty Methus
- Thalia showed her Order of the Rose crest - Odaiarin gave it to her, he was a Knight of the Rose
- Smoke break with Calendur, very swag
- Haive didn’t take my coin, kind of mean but in a weird way
- I slept fancy
- Plan to meet Becklin at Thornwall Keep in the morning (building by the gate)
- Militia is being trained
Act 4: King Fisher Festival
The King Fisher Festival celebrates Lord Deckter Vogler, who lived years before The Cataclysm. The King Fisher bird is seen as good luck.
Festival Activities:
- Mayor Raven Uthvoughler presided
- Fishing competition - I won! Gave KC the hat
- Thalia did face painting
- Zagreus played in the fishing competition
- Calendur pickpocketed Baccahrus the Young (rich fuckass)
- Bought a kingfisher keychain - king fisher swooping down to get a fish
We were taking Ispin’s spot in the reenactment of the Battle of High Hill. Zagreus got the Green Shield. Thalia had a secret talk before the event.
Act 5: The Ambush
The Iron Clad Regime was helping with the reenactment - Couldren and others from the regime were playing the role of the invading Isthar Empire. The Mayor said it was a “happy coincidence they are here” - SUSPICIOUS.
The Reenactment Setup:
- We were on the hill with the militia of Vogler
- Iron Clad Regime at bottom of hill
IT BECAME REAL:
- We were actually attacked!
- We killed all the attackers
- Even the company person from Iron Clad Regime didn’t know this was going to happen
- Most of Vogler militia is dead
- Zagreus goes INSANE in combat - it was lowkey freaky
- Calendur snapped someone’s head off - crystals broke out of it and the victim passed out
Current Mysteries
- Why were we attacked? Mayor Raven probably involved
- What are those crystals that came out of the enemy’s head?
- What’s the Iron Clad Regime’s real purpose?
- What are the Dragon People/lizard guys that killed Knights of Solamnia?
