Session Summary
Act 1: Aftermath of The Ambush
Mayor Raven Uthvoughler thanks the party for helping prevent the ambush on Vogler. Despite her thanks, the party remains suspicious of her involvement.
Silus (me) cleaned off Thalia’s blade for her - discovered it has “The Oath” inscribed on it.
Act 2: Interrogation at the Brasscrab
Party captured a surviving Iron Clad Regime member. Kudgel has her under control.
Becklin is interrogating the survivor at the Brasscrab. The party goes in to assist with the interrogation.
Key Information Learned:
- Jaev, Kudgel’s lieutenant, was in the outer camp with the other 50 Iron Clad Regime members who did NOT take part in the reenactment
- Grigonis (an ogre) was the leader of the Iron Clad Regime faction we killed in The Ambush
- The 50 regime members in the outer camp were likely NOT involved in the betrayal
- Haive and Silus double-teamed the interrogation
Prisoner’s Testimony:
- Grigonis planned to kill Kudgel and take control of the entire Iron Clad Regime
- Grigonis went into the West Forest and came back with a bunch of gold
- He used the gold to hire mercenaries and planned to raid Vogler afterward
- The man who gave Grigonis his money wore black and red armor with a hood
Act 3: Thalia’s Confession
Thalia walked in and saw the interrogation scene. Silus left the room to talk with her privately.
Important Revelation:
- Thalia believes the prisoner does not deserve to die
- Thalia cannot control her powers - she revealed this to Silus
Hearing this, Silus rushes back to try and stop the execution.
Act 4: Mercy and Unity
Haive holds off on killing the prisoner because he couldn’t fight back - showed mercy.
Zagreus turns away because he realized the prisoner was scared and this likely wasn’t done by his own volition.
Forming the Party: The group gathers to discuss staying together for the foreseeable future.
- They agree to join together on Haive’s condition: everyone carries their own weight
- Silus tells the party to not go overboard
Kudgel tells the party to investigate the West Forest.
Act 5: Dawn Investigation
Party plans to head out at 5am to investigate the forest.
Woke up at 5am. Silus made everyone breakfast. Silus appears pale - Haive notices and urges him to eat.
On the way to the forest:
- Found footprints older than a day
- Two types: boot prints and reptilian prints
- Pattern suggests patrol routes
Act 6: The Army in the Valley
The forest opens up to a shallow valley visible from a ledge.
CRITICAL DISCOVERY:
- Hundreds of campfires in the valley
- Thousands of soldiers controlling the shallow valley
- This is a strong, organized army
Party immediately returns to warn Becklin.
Act 7: Confirmation and the Messenger
Jaev, Kudgel’s lieutenant, had independently scouted and saw the same camp - confirms the party’s report.
The Messenger Arrives: A messenger in full scale armor arrives from the North.
She presents a parchment with a dire message:
“People of Vogler, by the orders of Belephaion, The Voice of Takhisis: You will quarter the soldiers of the invincible Red Dragon Army tonight. Refuse and die.”
Critical Information:
- Takhisis is one of the Gods of Krynn
- She is the greatest of all evil Gods
- Also known as the Queen of Dragons
- The messenger bears a spiral symbol insignia
Act 8: Evacuation Plans
The party plans to evacuate Vogler through the southern river route, heading east to Kalaman.
Becklin’s Request:
- Becklin has a large wooden box in Thornwall Keep
- Asks party to fetch it and give it to Derret
Evacuation Route:
- Southern river leads to the backside of the cliffs where the scouts are
- Silus tells the party to go South and clean out the cliffside
- Silus goes alone to fetch the box
The Mysterious Box:
- Heavy, about half Silus’s size
- Silus can barely carry it
- Contains clanking metal inside
- Contents unknown
Act 9: The Sacrifice
Kudgel and Becklin are staying behind - they cannot evacuate in time.
The party will evacuate with the villagers to help them escape to Kalaman.
Major Revelations
- Grigonis was paid by a mysterious figure in black and red armor with a hood
- Thalia cannot control her powers
- A massive army (Red Dragon Army) is camped in West Forest
- Takhisis, the Queen of Dragons, is behind the invasion
- Vogler is being given an ultimatum: submit or die
- Kudgel and Becklin will sacrifice themselves to buy time
Current Situation
- Immediate Threat: Red Dragon Army (thousands of soldiers) demanding surrender
- Evacuation in Progress: Villagers fleeing south via river to Kalaman
